When considering the use of heat pipes in electronics cooling the crucial question is how to dissipate the heat at the heat pipe's output end. The heat pipe's input and output resistances typically increase the overall thermal resistance of a system. Thus the use of heat pipes must be justified by other features.
Heat pipes are ideal heat transport means for big distances, for example when a sensitive heat source needs to be separated from the remote fin package/air moving device.
