Active Noise Reduction
Thermal management solutions rely on noise sources such as air movers, fans and blowers, or compressors and pumps. With air as coolant passive noise reduction methods cannot be effectively applied as the air will always carry the noise to the environment.
Silentium has developed an innovative Active Noise Control (ANC) solution applicable for point-to-zone noise sources such as electronic cooling equipment. The concept of Active Noise Control is based on producing an “anti-noise” signal which destructively interferes with the original sound and cancels out the original sound. The unique Silentium’s ANC concept incorporates proprietary algorithms, which adaptively follow the changes in noise spectrum and achieve extraordinary results of about 10dB(A) noise reduction. Compared to other ANC systems the Silentium solution extends the low frequency range to up to 1800 Hz and eliminates the use of error microphones.
The heart of every Silentium ANC solution is the S-chip – small, low-cost and highly effective to reduce low/medium-frequency noise. Available ANC products are development kits, a combined active and passive noise reduction kit for one of our extreme temperature chillers, silencer fan trays for server cabinets and an ANC silenced 90 mm fan mounted into a duct with sound damping linings for demonstration and learning purposes.
The Active Noise Reduction Development kits are complete tools for the implementation of Active Noise Reduction (ANR). They allow thermal management designers to develop custom noise reduction solutions for electronic equipment, laboratory instruments, medical equipment, air conditioning systems and others. Quiet equipment is a prerequisite and/or a differentiator for many work environments.
