The VME (Virtual Memory Extender) is a product to give Citrix servers, terminal servers and other virtual servers on Vmware ESX more virtual memory and to prevent the system from getting blue screens caused by memory allocation errors. The VME seamlessly integrates with the Windows Memory Manager enabling administrators to add more memory to virtual machines without allocating the memory within the virtual machine. VME also adressess the 3 to 4GB supported memory in the Windows 2003 Operating System.
With the introduction of vSphere 5 (exp. end of august 2011) a new pricing model has been announced. In vSphere 4 pricing was based on number of sockets and cores, in the new vSphere 5 pricing it based on number of sockets and available RAM memory.
