Teem Photonics announces a new version of it's PicoSpark™ laser with a 25% higher repetition rate, now at 50 kHz, and a 25% shorter pulse duration, as low as 700ps. The PicoSpark™ laser delivers closely Gaussian infra-red (1064nm) and green (532nm) light. The new release brings an even less thermal solution to cost effective micromachining and instrumentation applications.

PicoSpark™ brings together Passively Q-Switched (PQS) microchip laser technology with fiber amplification, resulting in a multiwatt laser that generates pulses with hundreds of kilowatt peak power and hundreds of gigawatt per square centimeter irradiance.

A PQS microchip laser is the seed of PicoSpark™ and sets the pulse width in the hundreds of picoseconds; a fiber amplifier provides the gain, compactly and efficiently. This Master Oscillator Fiber Amplifier (MOFA) architecture enables a constant pulse width, while allowing the user to vary the pulse energy (or peak power) independently of each other. The output is free- space coupled, preserving peak power and beam quality.

The Picospark™ HNP series emits 5.5W at 1064nm; the HNG series emits 4W at 532nm, generated by harmonic conversion, both with typical M² of 1.1 or lower.
