Laser Systems

Traceability is a must when striving for lowest failure rates. Serial and batch numbers help identify production lots and assist in the prevention of premature failures in the future. Our UV laser marking system offers excellent marking of plastics and can also be used for counterfeit protection via miniature 2D barcodes and dot matrices. While IR lasers tend to burn and deform plastic surfaces, UV light generates excellent contrast without debris. Some plastic materials are intentionally doped with particles (e.g. titanium oxide) to make them suitable for UV-activation. Even some metals reflect IR radiation too strongly, but respond much better to materials processing with UV lasers. If a specific laser-based marking solution is needed for a special material, AMS Technologies will undertake sample feasibility tests in-house and make the results available to the customer.
AMS Technologies additionally provides a fabrication system for the production of 3D microstructures consisting of polymer, proteins, metals or other biomaterials. Compared to a similar process with femtosecond lasers, a compact, picosecond laser is combined with patented technology in a cost-effective process that exhibits greater chemical efficiency.
