Laser Systems for Fiber Shaping

Besides generating a defined endface on an optical fiber (cleave) laser technology can also be used to form different endface geometries, such as ball or wedge lenses, as well as any type of grating structures or tapers by selectively removing material from the optical fiber. Within a more automated production flow, fiber manipulation can be performed not only on the bare fiber (for later installation) but even on an already positioned fiber as a method for reducing the risk of damage of already processed parts during assembly.
