When performing any fusion process on an optical fiber, one needs to remove the protective layers outside of the cladding. The dominant materials are usually acrylate-based protection layers, but polyimide is also common. Our portfolio of recoater systems caters to both types of materials and can additionally be equipped with proof testers. For acrylate recoating applications we also offer specific material with a lower index of refraction, as used for double-clad fibers where the coating material also acts as a light guiding media.
