Diode Lasers

AMS’ selection of semiconductor diode lasers covers all common technologies available on the market, including edge-emitter, VCSEL, DFB or DBR formats, standard narrow bandwidth lasers, external, internal or on-chip wavelength-stabilised lasers for higher spectral brightness and spectroscopic applications, single or low-mode, high spatial brightness lasers for direct materials processing and multi mode laser diodes for pump applications.

AMS Technologies can provide either single laser diodes or complete diode laser modules as turn-key, application-ready systems. Where possible our modules feature low noise and high stability, can be specified as free beam sources or with fiber coupling and exhibit (where needed) highest output power. Sources are available at most wavelengths between 300 and 19xxnm and output power ranges from a few mW right on up to 500W. We also take enquiries regarding custom wavelengths, custom mounting/housings and tailored system design for specific applications (e.g. medical).

  • 375 nm – excitation of Hoechst stain, Calcium Blue, and other fluorescent dyes in fluorescence microscopy
  • 405 nm – InGaN blue-violet laser, in Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD drives
  • 445 nm – InGaN deep blue laser multimode diode
  • 473 nm – sky blue laser pointers, still very expensive, output of DPSS systems
  • 485 nm – excitation of GFP and other fluorescent dyes
  • 510 nm – (to ~525 nm) green diodes
