Low-noise lasers for sensing and T&M applications typically were low-volume, expensive and had limited performance. The PPCL300 tunable laser solves this issue. Based on a volume-manufactured Telecom laser, the PPCL300 provides performance, quality and reliability at a reasonable price. The 1550nm external cavity laser (ECL) design has an intrinsic linewidth of 10kHz and very low phase noise down to the Hz range. Achievable output power (up to 18dBm) and wavelength range (up to 60nm) were previously unavailable. The device provides several agility features, such as fast frequency jumps, single-mode frequency modulation (up to 250GHz) and full band scans. Single Photon Detectors for R&D  of Quantum Technologies

 
Single Photon Detectors  are  a vital component for registering very low light  as required for R&D  of Quantum Technologies. The PGA-308 is a SPAD which detects single photons in the wavelength range of 0.95 to 1.6um.  It is fiber-pigtailed with a standard integrated 3-stage TE cooler, to allow operation at -50°C without external cooling, in a 6 pin TO-8 can.  When specifically used for single photon counting applications it is also available in a ultra-high sensitivity version with dark count rate of 10 KHz or less at a detection efficiency of 20%.

User friendly High Speed Detectors



12.5GHz GaAs and InGaAs Photodetectors contain PIN photodiodes that convert optical power into an electrical current.  This can be a used for measuring  the pulse width or frequency response of a laser when terminating into 50Ω connection on a spectrum analyser.  They come with their own internal bias supply consisting of long-life lithium cells. Plugging a coaxial cable into the photodetector's SMA output connector and terminating into 50Ω at the oscilloscope or spectrum analyzer is all that is required for operation. Typical applications are:- monitoring the output of Q switched;  mode locked; or externally modulated  lasers. Time domain and frequency response measurements.
